    Read these Rules, then browse the Categories list. All entries must be of work completed in the period 1st of March 2016 and 29th of February 2017.

    Entry fee

    The entry fee for entries from members of the New Zealand Sign and Display Association will be charged at $20 plus GST per entry and non-financial members of the New Zealand Sign and Display Association Incorporated will be charged an entry fee of $50 plus GST for each entry submitted. A GST tax invoice will be forwarded by return in acknowledgement of receipt.

    Entry details

    Entries in all categories with the exception of Categories 16 (Original In-House Design) and 17 (Self Promotion) must outline the extent of originality in the work submitted for judging (i.e. client or agency supplied logos, art, sketches, colour swatches, etc). All categories must detail the title of the work entered, the client, the category entered, and the name of the designer, details of materials suppliers and the level of originality.

    Submit photos

    With the notable exception of Category 15 (Screenmedia) all entries must be presented in digital photographic form and uploaded as either .jpg or .png bitmap files, of at least 1500 pixels on the shortest side. Others file formats cannot be recognised by the software. A high quality original picture is required (for winners in print publicity). In the case of Category 15 (Screenmedia) files may be provided as a video link to an uploaded YouTube or Vimeo file.

    Originality

    All entries must outline the extent of originality in the work submitted for judging (i.e. client supplied logos, clip art, sketches, etc). If someone other than an employee of the submitter has designed the work, they must be acknowledged on the entry form and a declaration as to permission/s to enter must be made.

    Suppliers

    All Categories with the exception of Category 16: Original In House Design and Category 17: Work By An Apprentice, may have elements supplied by clients, agencies or other third parties. The contribution of these parties must be identified on the entry form.

    With the notable exception of Category 17: Self Promotion, it is important that the identity of the entrant cannot be determined in the work being judged when viewing the front face of the entry. Therefore no promotional material, business cards or graphics can appear in the graphic/s uploaded. It is likewise important that photography does not include business signage or material in the background of any images to be judged that would enable judges to identify the entrant.

    Same work - multiple categories

    Identical entries may be submitted for judging in several categories, e.g. signs and graphics on a vehicle could possibly be entered in both Category 1: Vehicles and Category 10: Illustrations and Murals. In this or similar instances a separate entry is required for each Category entered.

    Deadline

    Entries must be made on-line prior to 5.00pm NZ time on Saturday the 4th of March 2017. As the process of electronic entry using digital files is automated within the software no late entries can be accepted.

    Collect your award personally

    It is a requirement of entering the New Zealand Sign and Display Awards that entrants must either attend the awards presentation themselves or ensure representation by someone other than one of the sponsors or suppliers representatives, on the Awards presentation evening. Entrants unable to attend in person are required to inform the convenor of their representative by April the 2nd, 2016. Entrants who are not present and are awarded an excellence medal will not be permitted to enter the following years’ event.

    Judges check Category

    pre-judging category selection committee will check category entered and adherence to the Instructions and Rules and reclassify or disqualify if necessary. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence or dialogue will be entered in to.

    The act of furnishing an entry into the New Zealand Sign and Display Awards constitutes acceptance and acknowledgement of all instructions, rules, terms, conditions, and directives.
